Station of Light

That's what it is called, one of the most important stations here in Sao Paulo. Luz Station, which means "Light Station", is a subway station that has many connections to bus stops and train lines. In the rush hour it is amazingly crowded. But still, it is a nice old place.

+ LIBERDADE

this neighborhood is known by its "japanese look" with its japanese style lamps, japanese goods shops, and so on. a great part of the japanese immigrants built their shops and business around this neighborhood, as homes as well.

today, liberdade is well known for the chinese people who own almost all the japanese goods shops. its more like a little chinatown, but they have a great variety of products from japanese rice to green tea, anpam, youkan and i'm always there to buy one of this things or karepan, poba tea or just a japanese meal.

the neighborhood looks old but lately there have been some investments on it and maybe in a few years it will look very different from now. that's what i hope!

+ CATEDRAL DA SÉ

catedral da sé. it is se's cathedral. it is sao paulos's ground zero and it's the very center of the city. there is always someone preaching the gospel, selling things, asking for money, taking pictures(:D), taking a nap or simply walking around. despite it's dirty look, it has it's charm.

+ THE BRAZILIAN EMPIRE STATE BUILDING

that white building is a copy of the ny's famous empire state building. it used to be a famous bank building, but since it was sold, I don't know what's inside there.
this place is just in front of the receita federal(I don't know how to translate it at the moment! sorry!) and is located in the downtown of sao paulo. as you can see, it's quite dirty, lots of wires all around and it's quite messy.

+ INSIDE THE SUBWAY TRAIN

inside the main subway line. it has more than 20 years it's working, I guess, and thank God we have it here because the traffic is so horrible. the good point is that it's fast and clean. just don't think there will be a seat waiting for you in the rush hour!
